Grand Dunman: Experience Concerts in Style, Just 2 MRT Stops from Your Home!
Singapore has solidified its status as an Asian concert hub with the recent announcement of two highly anticipated gigs. The city-state sold a staggering 200,000 tickets for the upcoming concerts, drawing fans from not only Singapore but also neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. Coldplay, the record-breaking British rock band, kicked off the excitement with a presale on Monday last week. Initially scheduled for four dates at the 55,000-capacity National Stadium in Singapore’s Sports Hub, their ambition to attract tourists paid off.

The recent gigs by Coldplay and Taylor Swift in Singapore have solidified the city-state’s position as a major concert hub in Asia. With their wide-ranging appeal, these marquee world-class events attracted fans from across the region. Despite initial fears of protests due to political turmoil in some neighboring countries, Singapore’s geographical position and stable government ensured a safe and secure environment for both artists and concert-goers. Tour promoters had been planning these shows for several months, taking into account the city-state’s advanced infrastructure and its reputation for hosting successful tours.
Singapore National Stadium, that is within 2 MRT stops from Grand Dunman, has worked diligently to position itself as a centre for entertainment, rivaling major cities in Europe and the United States. Dr. Michael Chiam, a senior tourism lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, attributes Singapore’s success to its overall image as a safe and well-connected city-state with low crime rates and good connectivity.
Alongside its renowned Singapore Grand Prix, where drivers speed through the scenic Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Formula One Grand Prix attracts millions of fans each year. With October 2022 set as the date for these major events, event organizers and management are confident that Singapore’s reputation as a prime destination for world-class concerts will only grow stronger.

Experience the Vibrancy: Come Alive at Kallang Alive!
Kallang Alive, which is part of the Singapore government’s Vision 2030 Masterplan, will include increased play areas and event suites. The review of the 2030 Masterplan also included a purpose-built indoor arena, which would be Singapore’s first velodrome. To complement these facilities, an accompanying sports-themed hotel was also announced.
The Sports Hub will also include a “speed climbing wall” to cater for more active and adventurous sports enthusiasts. This announcement came alongside 15 recommendations on how to enhance Singapore’s current sports scene and ensure that it remains competitive in the international arena. In addition to this, a number of supporting facilities such as centre suites, food & beverage outlets and retail stores were also included in the announcement.
The tennis centre at Kallang Alive will feature open courts for all skill levels to enjoy. At this state-of-the-art facility, there will be seven indoor and seven outdoor courts designed to provide the best playing conditions and surface for both casual and competitive tennis players.
As part of the Kallang Alive project, a squash centre with 20 public squash courts will be built. The demolition of the old Kallang Squash Centre was necessary to make way for the new centre, and it took three years to find a suitable new space.
The new integrated sports hub will have a football hub, tennis centre and velodrome. Kallang Squash will be the main feature of the facility with a squash centre and courts for Singapore Squash. The Kallang Theatre will be transformed into a lifestyle centre with an array of restaurants, retail outlets and other entertainment options.
National Agency Sport Singapore has invested over 20 million dollars to revamp the facility and make it world class. It will feature new Burghley squash rackets, professional-level lighting and seating, as well as improved court surfaces.
The new velodrome proposed by Kallang Alive Precinct will be the first of its kind in Singapore and will come with a speed climbing wall, making it suitable for both professional and recreational cyclists.
The Sports Hub will also provide a platform for extreme sports, unconventional sports, and recreational activities such as parkour and track cycling, as well as speed climbing. This is an exciting development for Singapore’s national youth, as it provides them with an agency to pursue their sporting dreams through the National Training Centre.
Additionally, the Sports Hub will create a strong sense of community by providing various facilities for the youth to stay active and engage in different activities. Through this project, Sport Singapore plans on introducing more accessible sporting options to Singaporean youths and promote a healthier lifestyle in the country.

Pedal into Fun with Family at Grand Dunman: New Cycling Paths Coming 2024
Seven towns have been chosen for a new cycle paths project, with the aim of progressively completing it by 2024, as announced by LTA on 12 January 2023. The cycle paths will lead to a cycling route network, allowing cyclists to enjoy Land Transport Authority’s Islandwide Cycling Network (ICN) programme.
This will double the present cycling community in the area and create a 254,000 bike slots network. Kallang Park is amongst the first of these paths to be constructed, with plans in place to link it to MRT stations in Geylang, Ang Mo Kio and its surrounding areas.
The plan has been proposed by the Land Transport Authority and aims to encourage more people to cycle as a means of transport. This initiative will help reduce the burden on our public transport system while also helping citizens stay healthy and active!
The new paths will connect residents to key amenities and improve cycling links between towns. – It will provide comprehensive cycling paths, improve active mobility users and join residents of the seven towns, starting with Geylang, Marine Parade and Hougang.
This project will enhance cycling hyperlinks between transport nodes in neighbourhoods such as schools, colleges and neighbourhood centres. Dakota will also be included in this project to link up with facilities and connect to other towns.
This project is an important step for the seven towns in creating a more sustainable environment for everyone to live in. It has the potential to encourage more people to take up cycling as a form of transportation which is beneficial for both health and the environment.
The new cycling paths are being implemented in seven towns and will be progressively completed from 2024. To ensure that the necessary supporting infrastructure improvements are made, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has engaged other relevant stakeholders, such as town councils, to assess technical feasibility for bike crossings and ramps.
The LTA has also conducted outreach efforts to inform residents of the changes and create a more bike-friendly culture. This project is going to give cyclists more freedom and fun as they can nearly cover the entire length of town on bike lanes without having to worry about cars getting in their way.
It’s an exciting development that will make cycling safer and more enjoyable for everyone living in Grand Dunman!

Grand Dunman: Where Kallang River and City Life Meet
With plans by the National Parks involving several areas along the 10km Kallang River, it will provide greater convenience for people to more open spaces to enjoy for exercise and social activities.
The transformation will also see an enhanced connectivity with a continuous path from Kallang River, Singapore’s longest natural river stretching from the Lower Peirce Reservoir into the Kallang basin, to Gardens by the Bay and the Central Business District is to be overhauled.
With areas along Kallang River undergoing revitalisation, experts said properties near the river are likely to attract more interest through their lifestyle concepts – car-free, healthier living, and amenities – and no longer just waterfront homes. Prices of properties are also expected to rise in value after the revamp.
The Kallang River is shaping up to be the braver, exciting, and sophisticated version of Punggol, particularly with regards to landscaping, being car-free, and with regards to its amenities.
Being car-lite will also differentiate it from any other estates or areas in Singapore yet to provide such an exclusive experience for life and commute.
Where previously they had just the river views, now they will have leisure facilities along the river. Grand Dunman is set to seamlessly integrate with the riverfront promenade, contributing to placemaking and bringing vibrancy along the Kallang River.
