LUXURY, LOCATION & CONVENIENCE

Sing-Haiyi Jade, an arm of the SingHaiyi Group, was awarded the bid for a large Dunman Road site at $1.28 billion, or $14,536.62 per sqm (GFA) on 14 June 2022. Located next to Dakota MRT Station and the Geylang River, the 99-year-leased site covers 252,234.3sqft with an opportunity to build 1,040 private homes.

The winning offer for the site on Dunman Road – $1,350 per square foot per plot ratio (PSF per PPR), is the highest ground price paid in recent years for residential sites sold by Government Land Sales (GLS) on the fringe of the city. It beats the previous record of $768m, or $1,302psf ppr, for the site at Jalan Tembusu, which was awarded in January 2022.

SingHaiyi Group, will be developing the site into Dunman Grand, a 99-year-leasehold private condominium project. Located at Singapore’s central region, is almost 3minutes walk to Dakota MRT Station, making it extremely convenient if you are looking to commute by public transportation to go to town.

Circle Line 6 – Becoming A Full Circle

Completion of the three stations will add three stations between HarbourFront and Marina Bay MRT Station, closing the circle for the CCL.  The four-kilometre-long extension, namely Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward MRT, will form a one continuous loop.

When completed, the CCL will be a total of 33 stations, including 12 interchange stations with all existing MRT lines, as well as the forthcoming Thomson-East Coast line. Construction on three existing CCL stations – Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward began in 2017 and works are expected to be completed by 2025.

Circle Line 6 will reduce journey times, as well as provide more alternate routes to commuters bypassing busy junctions at City Hall and Raffles Place.

Want to take a lazy day? Just hope over to hot local favourites at the beloved Old Airport Food Centre that is just 6minutes walk away that has been conquering our hearts and stomachs with mouth-watering dishes since 1973.

Being within 10minutes to major commercial and financial hubs as well as lifestyle offerings allows one to truly have it all.

ABOUT OLD AIRPORT ROAD GOOD CENTRE

Maxwell Food Centre and Tiong Bahru Food Centre are hawker centers that are better known, and the Old Airport Road Food Centre is generally known as being among the best because of the diversity and quality of the stands. Xin Mei Siang Zheng Zong Lor Mee is a household favourite of everyone that visits hawker centres. Xin Dong Fang serves what is probably one of the best lor mees in town, drawing large queues and selling out quickly. Xin Mei Xiang lor mee serves Roast Pork & Char Siew rice & noodles.

The beancurd is made in-house, and Xin Dong Fang also sells freshly made soybean milk. This popular stand serves some of Singapores silkiest beancurd. This place is no stranger for the oyster omelette connoisseurs. Nam Sing Hokkien Mee serves up classic Japanese dishes like tempura, soba, and udon, and tasty seafood like hotate on the grill, fresh oysters, sashimi, and crab (cold/broiled).

Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee has a few names, ranging from Blanco Court (third floor) food centre, Blanco Court Kway Chap (unofficial name), to To-Ricos Guo Shi, so this can be a little confusing to first-timers or tourists. While Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow in the Old Airport Road Food Center has had better luck, winning the Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide, some fans feel Dong Ji Fried Kway Teow is the better stand. With a Michelin Bib Gourmand under its belt, Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow is undoubtedly one of the more popular stalls in this food center. One of the unique things about this stall is that they serve their Fried Kway Teow both in White and Black versions.

Follow locals and get yourself a big bowl of Rojak, Satay, Bee Hoon, or Charred Kway Teow from the best food stall. Try the Paradise Char Siu rice ($4.50), served with fat, caramelized slices of pork, and served with a side of fatty, buttery rice cooked in pork fat. Here, expect level-up interpretations of the Bak Chor Mee, courtesy of the Roast Paradise founders modern Teochew abalone noodles ($ $6), which comes with abalone, scallops, slices of pork, and an egg from Han Juku.

Another favorite here is Xiang Ji Red Wine Chicken Mee Sua ($ 4) — a comforting Cantonese classic. Mike Aquinos Chi Shuang Shuang on Old Airport Road serves goreng pisang (fried plantains), but their secret weapon is the utterly devastatingly good durian goreng, coated with fried tempura crumbs and deep-fried to a deep, golden perfection.

On days when you want to eat something lighter than a bowl of noodles or rice, Old Airport Roads homemade spring rolls* springroll skins Fu Cheng Shi Pin Zi Zhi Bo Bing* Bo Bing Pi rolls out some delicious, but simple, fried pyao for your munching pleasure. Whitley Roads Big Prawn Noodle comes in both soup and dry versions, and features three large, fresh shrimp. Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodle originally started out at Whitley Road Hawker Centre back in the 1970s, since expanding to another outlet located on Thomson Road.

You will find your usual chicken herb soups here, but the majority of fans of this stall go there especially for their tortoise soup. This exotic dish has been gradually vanishing from Singapore, and this stall is one of the only remaining places in Singapore serving this rich dish. Dong Ji Fried Kway Teow serves seafood hotpot ($50 for 2 people/$70 for 4-5 people) which is made up of pork tail, pigs guts, lara, pork ribs, shrimps, and an appealing single crab.

Hua Kee Hougang Famous Wanton Mee Hua Ji Hou Gang Zu Chuan Chi Ming Yun Tun Mian is one that does not have an electronic waiting list; whereas Cho Kee Noodle is located at two stands at the right side of the Old Airport Road food centre. There are two Wanton Mee stands located nearly next to each other, but we preferred Western Barbecue for its noodles and spicy dip.

The noodles in a bowl of Loh mee ($4/small, $5/medium, $6/large) are covered with a thick, gooey sauce infused with five spices and herbs, and topped with chunks of fresh fish. The signature Lor Mee ($ 6/$ 8) is lavishly topped with flaky white fish, rather than the normal fried fish. The classic Bak Chor Mee comes with the standard serving of ground pork, chopped pork collar, and house-made shrimp paste, but I throw an extra dollar on for the dumplings and the deep-fried fish sticks that also come in your bowl. Lor Mee Lu Mian, the sticky street food from Hokkien whose noodles are slender, flat yellow, might not be everybodys favourite.

ABOUT GEYLANG PARK CONNECTOR

Located between Guillemard Road and Tanjong Rhu, the Geylang Park Connector runs alongside Geylang River, then heads towards Marina Reservoir, seamlessly connecting with Gardens by the Bay through the Tanjong Rhu promenade. The Geylang Park Connector has the thickest foliage of any Geylang PC route, should you wish for a bit of shade and fresh air. It starts off near Grandlink Plaza, crosses over Mountbatten Road, and ends under the flyover at Tanjong Rhu Bridge.

The purpose of Park Connectors was to be used for recreation, but with a change in perspective towards the return of cycling as a mode of transportation, and plans for linking LTAs Cycle Path Network (CPN) to PCN in order to promote long-distance cycling, PCN is now taking on a different role as a pathway for bike commuting.

This includes Tanjong Rhu Promenade, East Coast Park, Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage, the Supertrees & Conservatory, the Singapore Flyer, and the Singapore Sports Hub, among others. You can check out Park Connector Network (PCN) Loops and Recommended Trails here if you are planning on parkhopping around Singapore anytime soon.
